How Well Does Your Dog Behave?
Having any pet is a rewarding experience, but dogs have to be the best of the bunch. A dog will always be there to greet you with a smile when you get home, always want to play and never argue with you. If you want a dog though then you need to be prepared to give them the care and attention they need, you can't just jump into owning a dog without knowing how to look after them properly.

Every dog needs some training: When you first get a dog then they will be so cute and you will be able to forgive them for pretty much anything, but don't let their cuteness be an excuse not to train them as it is a lot easier when they are young. A lot of people don't bother with training, but if you don't then you dog thinks it can get away with too much and will start to develop some really bad habits. Like chewing things to bits, particularly their dog bed, which means you have to buy a chew resistant dog bed if you refuse to train them out of the habit.
It actually doesn't cost that much if you want to train your dog. The simplest way to train them is to attend some classes with your dog where you learn the techniques and get to apply them under the watchful eye of a trainer. That is just the start though, once you have learned the techniques then you need to apply every day with your dog until they listen to you.
Your dog needs grooming: You can certainly take your dog for grooming, but really you should be grooming them on a weekly basis at least which will start to get expensive if you have to pay someone to do that for you. It is also a great time to bond with your dog so it is not something you should be getting a stranger to do. While grooming on a weekly basis is basically just running a brush through their fur to keep it looking good and stop it knotting up (visit MyDogBrush.com for brush recommendations) then an important part of the process is to keep an eye out for any injuries or rashes and cuts etc they may have while you do it.
Give your dog lots of love and attention: Your dog is going to need and want love and attention just like a young child does, so you can't ignore them just because they are not human. While it is easy to forget that your pet has needs too, then one common problem that emerges if you do ignore them for too long is bad behavior starts to emerge as they try to get your attention in other ways. To avoid that then take some time to enjoy playing with them each day, or when you take them out for a walk them give them some attention and take a ball out to play then.
